in 2000 i did a series of paintings of the new york mets. this is the year that the mets appeared in the world series against the ny yankees in the "subway series." there are twenty-five paintings (acrylic on canvas) of the players batting or pitching and twenty-three paintings (pastel on paper) of the players in that quintessential baseball stance, “leaning on their bats.” in march 2008, i added a pastel painting of david wright “leaning on his bat” to this collection.
